Welcome to the Fall. This is a busy time of year for teachers. October is always one of the most stressful months for me. I know it ahead of time. I can see it coming, but without fail, I’m always stressed out.

30 Ways Teachers can Destress

Do you need some ideas on how to destress? Below are 30 ideas to help teachers destress during the month of September, or really, any month.

Everyone is different. We all have different personalities and different ways of rejuvenating our minds and our bodies.

Being an introvert, I would never consider going out with friends a way to destress. I enjoy it, but it’s not a way I rejuvenate my soul.

For some people, that is the perfect way for them to destress.  Below are some ideas that will give you a jump start on your de-stressing activities.

Pick some of these that you know will work for you or pick new ones to try out. Use this list or create your own.  This is only a list of ideas.

  1. read a book
  2. eat a good, healthy meal

  30. work on a hobby

To prepare us for the busy month of October, while we still have a little bit of summer in our systems, and before school has become too crazy, I want to present a challenge to you, a September {De}Stress Challenge.

The Challenge

Find one way to destress every day.

That’s it. It’s a simple challenge, but also a hard one.

Personally, I can never seem to stop. Never seem to let go and rest. It takes a lot for me to slow down. My brain is continually coming up with new ideas. It takes purposeful actions and a lot of willpower to slow down.

This next month, I will be purposeful about de-stressing each and every day. I need it. Life is crazy.

Be accountable

If you feel led, post an image of how you destress to Instagram using the hashtag #septemberdestress. If you’d like, post an image every day to keep yourself accountable. I totally need that accountability and follow-through!

The above options aren’t meant to stress you out, only share different ways that someone could relax and destress. It’s going to be different for everyone. The idea is to take some time for yourself each day this month to form a new habit and be conscious of ways you can destress.

Make it a habit

I want to create a new habit of taking time for myself to do something that will rejuvenate my soul. Habits take time to develop. They say it takes 21 days to form a new habit. Well, we’re going to do 30 days, just to make sure it sticks. I will form a habit of de-stressing every day.

Are you going to join me in creating a habit of de-stressing?

Join me on Instagram with the hashtag #septemberdestress.

This means we can’t even get our rooms set up until the day before the kids come – they come the Weds. after Labor Day. right now I’m starting to panic wondering and hoping that I can get my room set up between normal work hours – 8:15 – 2:50 on Tuesday after Labor Day. I might need to start destressing this exact minute. This is a great challenge – thanks for all the ideas!
